Yext alternative for small businesses that mainly need review replies

Yext is an enterprise platform built for large multi-location brands, with custom pricing, yearly billing, no free trial, and review response sold as an add-on. If you own one or a few locations and mostly need good replies to your Google reviews, ReplyChamp does that for $7 a location a month.

Yext facts checked on November 4, 2026, from Yext's own website and the listings named in the sources.

The short answer

Yext is best known for listings: keeping a brand’s name, hours and address right across many directories, maps and apps. It also handles reviews from more than 80 platforms, local pages, search and AI tools. Its own FAQ says it is built for large multi-location enterprises, and that smaller businesses are better served through its reseller partners.

ReplyChamp is only about replies to Google reviews. If that’s the job you need done, you don’t need an enterprise contract to get it.

Yext pricing vs ReplyChamp

Yext says its pricing is custom “by design”: there’s no single published price and no fixed menu of tiers. What you pay depends on how many locations you have, which solution you need and how long you commit. Billing is typically yearly, and multi-year terms get better rates.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Yext (direct)Custom quoteListings and the core platform, priced by location count, solution and term. No free tier and no standard free trial
Yext add-onsCustom quoteYext lists review response, landing pages and site search as add-ons

ReplyChamp$7 per location per month, or $70 a yearA drafted reply to every new Google review, in your voice. Auto-reply only for the ratings you choose. First 10 replies free, cancel any time

Yext’s G2 listing says pricing isn’t listed there by the vendor and that there is no free trial. Capterra lists yearly Yext packages with prices and a free trial, which conflicts with Yext’s own FAQ, so we treat those figures as out of date and don’t repeat them.

Buying Yext through a reseller

If you’re a small business and you’ve been offered Yext, it was probably through a reseller: a marketing agency, a web host or a local listings company. Yext’s FAQ says that’s the recommended path for smaller businesses, and that resellers negotiate their unit price based on the volume of business they bring.

That means the price you’re quoted depends on the reseller, not a Yext list. Before you sign, ask:

  • What exactly is included: listings only, or review response too?
  • How long is the term, and does it renew automatically?
  • Who writes the review replies, and do they wait for your approval?
  • What happens to your listings if you stop paying?

Listings or replies: what a single location needs

For a brand with 500 locations, keeping every listing right across dozens of sites is a real job, and it’s what Yext does best. For one location, your Google Business Profile is the listing most customers see, and you can keep it current yourself. Our guide on growing your Google presence shows the checklist.

Replies are different: they keep arriving, and every one is public. That’s the part ReplyChamp takes off your plate. Here’s how a review moves through it:

The All reviews feed in ReplyChamp, with filter chips for All 40, Needs you 9, Replied 29 and Not replying 1, star and location filters, and the note "Sensitive reviews always wait for you, and 1–2★ wait unless you’ve chosen All reviews." Below them, a 4-star review from Tom Becker marked "Needs approval", waiting 14 hours, with its drafted reply threaded underneath.
1. New reviews arrive with a draft already written. The reviews feed in the ReplyChamp demo: what needs you, what was replied to, and every draft threaded under its review.
A 2-star review from Derek Palmer in ReplyChamp marked "Needs approval": he waited almost 20 minutes for two lattes on a Sunday and the milk was barely warm. Threaded under it, a drafted reply to Derek that mentions the twenty-minute wait and the lukewarm lattes and asks him to ask for the owner next time, with Approve & post, Save edit, Regenerate and Don’t reply buttons.
2. Unhappy reviews wait for you to approve, edit or skip. A 2-star review in the ReplyChamp demo (a made-up café). The draft answers what this customer wrote, and waits for the owner before anything is posted.
A 5-star review from Sofia Marín in ReplyChamp marked "Auto-replied". The review praises the cardamom bun, the friendly team and tasting two single origins. Threaded under it, the reply, "Posted automatically" 14 minutes after the review, thanks Sofia, says the buns are baked every morning and that the compliment will go to the bakers.
3. The ratings you choose can post on their own. A 5-star review in the ReplyChamp demo, answered on its own 14 minutes later because the owner chose to auto-reply to 5★ reviews. The reply mentions what Sofia actually liked.

When Yext is the better choice

  • You manage many locations and need listings kept right across many directories and apps.
  • You collect reviews on dozens of platforms and want them in one place.
  • You have a team to run the platform and a budget for a yearly or multi-year term.

If that’s you, Yext is built for the job. If you’re smaller but still want Yext, its own FAQ points you to its reseller partners.

When ReplyChamp is the better choice

  • You own the business and answer your own reviews.
  • Most of your reviews are on Google.
  • You want to start today, pay monthly and cancel any time.
  • You want the hard replies held for you and the thank-yous sent on their own.

Every draft waits for you until you’ve approved 10. After that, auto-reply posts only the ratings you pick. 1–2★ reviews wait for you unless you deliberately choose All reviews, and reviews about health, safety, legal threats or refunds always wait.

Common questions

How much does Yext cost?

Yext doesn’t publish a price. Its FAQ says pricing is custom and depends on your number of locations, the solution you need and how long you commit. Billing is typically yearly, multi-year terms get better rates, and there’s no free tier or standard free trial.

Does Yext include review responses?

Yext’s FAQ lists review response as an add-on, alongside landing pages and site search. Its reviews product offers both AI drafts you approve and automatic AI responses.

How does Yext reseller pricing work?

Yext says resellers negotiate a unit price based on the volume of business they bring. The price you pay is set by the reseller, so ask them for it in writing, with the term and what’s included.

Is Yext good for a small business?

Yext says it is built for large multi-location enterprises, and that smaller businesses are better served by its reseller partners. For one or two locations, a smaller tool is usually the better fit.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Yext for review replies?

If what you mainly need is replies to your Google reviews, yes. ReplyChamp drafts and posts them in your voice for $7 per location per month, or $70 per year, with 10 free replies first. It doesn’t manage listings.

Can I try ReplyChamp before paying?

Yes. Your first 10 replies are free and no credit card is needed. You can also try the public demo with a made-up café without signing in.

Verdict

Yext is a listings-first enterprise platform. For a brand with hundreds of locations, custom yearly pricing and an add-on for review response make sense.

For a single owner, Yext itself suggests going through a reseller, and replies would still be an extra. If replies are what you need, ReplyChamp includes them for $7 a location, in your voice, month to month.
