Removing Google reviews: common questions
Can I get a bad Google review removed?
Only if it breaks Google’s rules for reviews. You report it from your Business Profile and Google decides whether it comes down. An honest account of a bad experience stays up, even when it feels unfair or one-sided. For those, a calm public reply is your best answer.
What kinds of reviews does Google remove?
Reviews that break its content policy: fake or spam reviews, reviews about a different business or that are off-topic, reviews with a conflict of interest (from a competitor, a current or former employee, or the owner), harassment, threats and hate speech, profanity and sexual content, someone’s personal information, impersonation, and illegal or dangerous content.
How do I report a Google review?
Open your Business Profile on Google and go to Reviews. Find the review, tap the three dots next to it, then Report review. Pick the reason that fits, such as Conflict of interest or Spam, and submit. Report it once, then give Google time to look.
How long does Google take to decide?
Google doesn’t publish a timeline. It makes the final call, and if it decides the review doesn’t break its rules, the review stays up.
What about fake Google reviews?
If the words show the review isn’t about a real visit, for example it describes a different business, report it as spam. Not finding the reviewer in your records isn’t proof on its own, so reply too: say calmly that you can’t find their visit and invite them to get in touch directly.
Can I pay someone to remove a review?
Only Google can remove a review. Nobody can guarantee a removal, so be careful with services that charge to delete reviews. Buying reviews, or offering anything in return for one, breaks Google’s rules too.
Should I reply to a review I’ve reported?
Yes. Other customers can read the review until Google takes it down, and a calm, polite reply shows them how you treat people. Keep it short, don’t argue about the facts, and don’t mention the report.
Do you save the review I paste?
No. The text you paste is sent to our AI provider only to check it and to write reply suggestions. We don’t store the review, the verdict or the replies, and nothing is posted to Google. The two free replies are once per person: a one-way code made from your IP address and a small signed cookie keep count for a day; neither holds your IP address or anything you typed. If you sign in for a reply instead, that draft waits for up to 30 minutes so you can read it, then it’s gone.
